Preparing to send a child with allergies to school requires careful planning and communication with school staff, teachers, and your kid! \u00a0You need to know how to set up your kids’ allergy plan for school.<\/p>\n

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you prepare to send your kid to school with allergies:<\/p>\n

Understand your child’s allergies:<\/strong>
\nMake sure you have a clear understanding of your child’s allergies, including what they are allergic to, common symptoms, and emergency procedures. Others can\u2019t help you if you don\u2019t have all the details, so make sure to get all the info you need before starting a plan for the school.<\/p>\n

Prepare your medical documentation:<\/strong>
\nProvide the school with medical documentation from your child’s healthcare provider detailing their allergies, emergency contact information, and any necessary medications or treatments.<\/p>\n

Get your child an appointment over the summer months to ensure there are no new updates or changes needed to any of the info, and you can provide the most up-to-date information for their school file.<\/p>\n

Start developing an Allergy Action Plan:<\/strong>
\nThis plan should outline specific steps to take in case of an allergic reaction, including symptoms, treatment (such as administering epinephrine if needed), and when to seek emergency medical help. Make sure you fully understand all of this so you can clearly pass along the information.<\/p>\n

-What medications (epic pens, inhalers) does the child need with them each day?
\n-Where do those medications stay at school (a spot in the classroom, on their desk? On their person)?

Stay Informed of policies:<\/strong>
\nStay informed about school policies and procedures related to allergies and any updates or changes.
