I scream, you scream we all scream for ice cream!
Summer is a great time to host and ice cream social. Whether it’s to celebrate a summer birthday, kicking off the summer fun, one last get-together before school starts or just because you love ice cream. We’ve got tips on how to make your ice cream social a success!
Ice Cream Choices
All good ice cream parties need several choices of ice cream. Vanilla has to be on your menu, of course, because you can add any toppings to vanilla to make it your own. We like to serve classics like chocolate and strawberry too. Choose whatever kind of ice cream makes you happy!
Here are some recipes you can make ahead for your ice cream social:

Serve it Cold
Tip: Keep your ice cream cold by placing the cartoons in a tub of ice and keeping it in a shady spot.
We like to offer both cones and bowls with spoons for people to serve their ice cream into. Don’t forget the napkins and several ice cream scoops!
Create a Sundae Bar
If you’re having an ice cream party, it’s fun to let people personalize their ice cream as they choose with a Sundae Bar. Provide a variety of fun toppings and let people get creative.
Here are some of our favorite topping suggestions:
- sprinkles (of course)
- gummy candy
- chocolate candy
- shredded coconut
- chopped nuts
- marshmallows
- hot fudge
- crushed cookies
- fruit (cherries are a classic!)
Tip: Fill a tray with bowls of toppings to keep things organized and make cleanup easy after the party.
Shake Things Up
Take your ice cream social to the next level by offering to blend together personalized milkshakes or create a float station with carbonated drink choices, cups and straws!
Tip: Make sure you have paper towels on hand for any drips and spills and offer guests wet wipes to wipe their sticky hands or faces before they go home!
