Starting middle school is about more than new teachers and tougher homework. It’s about middle school life skills for tweens, and helping them manage all the “what if’s” they quietly ask themselves. While it’s exciting to watch your child become more independent, it’s also completely normal to wonder if they’re truly ready for everything this new chapter brings. By Grades 6–8, most tweens have the academic side covered. They know how to study, complete assignments, and tackle increasingly challenging subjects. But middle school asks something new of them. Suddenly, they’re expected to navigate a larger building, manage multiple teachers, keep track of their schedules, navigate friendships, solve everyday problems, and make smart decisions without an adult by their side every minute of the day.
