I came across this image on a few Facebook mom groups recently. A new mom wrote this set of rules for anyone visiting her newborn in the hospital and it went viral. The public reaction to it seems to be generally similar: Good for her for defining her boundaries and setting expectations.
My reaction, however, was not as warm and fuzzy as that of other mamas. Why? Well, frankly the letter made me react like this:

Okay! We seem to have somewhat survived the “back to school” month of September. That brings us into October. And with that comes the sometimes dreaded parent-teacher interview or conference.
It just happened. I didn’t cry. I needed him to know that I had confidence in him and that I was going to be just fine. We can’t let them see us sweat. We don’t want them worrying about us when they need to be focused on their new adventures. Admittedly, I may have held on a little longer in that last hug.
