These times have been tricky for parents, but also a crazy time for businesses as well. I know many of our Mabel customers are also business owners, entrepreneurs or just about to venture into the “side hustle.” We keep hearing the word “pivot” and how it relates to businesses surviving during this time.
Mabel’s Labels is no exception, and I’m so proud to be surrounded by a team of motivated and innovative people. Making kids name labels is still our top priority, but when COVID-19 hit, we jumped into action. We knew that our production facility had the capabilities to make a whole bunch of products that could be useful to those around us in these unprecedented times. So, we created a team here at Mabel’s affectionately called “Team Now” to put their heads together and shift our manufacturing focus to help meet the needs of our community.
Emergency Daycare Labels
When “Emergency Daycares” were set up across the country to accommodate the children of frontline workers, we reached out to offer labels for the children attending. While frontline workers are busy keeping us safe, we felt it was only appropriate to gift them personalized Mabel’s Labels to their children to help avoid germ spread while in care. We were proud to collaborate with centres across three provinces to do this. Parents and staff were equally thrilled!
We’re making more than just labels these days! With our tech capabilities and talented staff, we were able to create The MabelShield, which has been authorized by Health Canada for use in relation to COVID-19. So many businesses are excited about this product. Like many other companies, we’ve had to pivot our plans and get creative so that we can keep our business running. We love that this has also allowed us to support healthcare providers and companies that require this in-demand product to keep their staff safe.

Face masks may just be the biggest back-to-school fashion accessory for 2020! We’re working with a local manufacturer here to produce face masks with cute Mabel’s Labels designs that our customers love. These non-medical grade, washable, three-layer masks are available in sizes for kids (ages 3 and up) and adults. The response has been overwhelming and we’re doing everything we can to keep up with the orders that just keep rolling in. When kids eventually go back to school and daycare, we know how important an item these are going to be for families.
